I Am An Artist

Thanks to Steven Casey for bringing this to my attention. It was created by Exileden on deviantART.

I'd like to see another about how an artist's working time is not play time. You know how it is. You're working hard on a project, and have a self-imposed deadline (like getting a doll finished by Saturday, so you can list on Sunday, so you can pay a bill on Wednesday). But a number of friends or family members seem to think it's okay to drop by, call, or drag you to a movie. When you decline their companionship, they get offended. Yet, if you were ever to do the same to them while they were at work....

  1. Trying to convince anyone around a writer of this is difficult, too. It is HARD to get into "the zone," which is necessary to write anything. Unfortunately, "the zone," also seems to have a magnet for needy cats and people bursting to tell you something about nothing.

    1. Tell me about it! Though, it's easier for me to focus on writing than sculpting.

  2. Absolutely true! I try so hard to be nice, but it seems the same courtesy is not given to those of us who create by a monetary means.

    1. OT, but I was excited to see that Native American doll you have on your blog. Not enough of those out there.

    2. Thank you so much! That is a HUGE compliment coming from you. (^_^) I agree that there aren't enough custom Native American dolls (not that I've seen anyway). Working on that doll has inspired me to work on another Native American gal, on my own terms. Not sure when I will have her finished, but I'm just going to take my time and enjoy the process.
